Earth Day

I received an email asking me what my thoughts were on Christians and Earth Day.

Here are just a few thoughts  that I have rolling around in my head:

Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Psalm 24:1-2

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
    the world, and all who live in it;
for he founded it on the seas
and established it on the waters.

Romans 1:20

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

"This Is My Father's World"
By Maltbie Babcock

This is my Father’s world, and to my listening ears
All nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres. This is my Father’s world: I rest me in the thought Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas; His hand the wonders wrought.
This is my Father’s world, the birds their carols raise, The morning light, the lily white, declare their Maker’s praise. This is my Father’s world: He shines in all that’s fair; In the rustling grass I hear Him pass; He speaks to me everywhere.
This is my Father’s world. O let me ne’er forget That though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet. This is my Father’s world: the battle is not done: Jesus Who died shall be satisfied, And earth and Heav’n be one.
This is my Father’s world, dreaming, I see His face. I ope my eyes, and in glad surprise cry, “The Lord is in this place.” This is my Father’s world, from the shining courts above, The Beloved One, His Only Son, Came—a pledge of deathless love.
This is my Father’s world, should my heart be ever sad? The lord is King—let the heavens ring. God reigns—let the earth be glad. This is my Father’s world. Now closer to Heaven bound, For dear to God is the earth Christ trod. No place but is holy ground.
Enjoy the world He gave us, care for it, be thankful for the beauty of it.
Turn off a light, recycle your trash, plant a tree and remember it's a gift from your Creator to point us to Jesus.
Blessings,

The fact that you call yourself a conservative Christian and then acknowledge the idol worship of "Earth Day" is a joke.

I'm not really sure how acknowledging that God created the Earth and gave it to us to care for is not Christian or Conservative?. . .
