Happiness

Whoever came up with the saying 'the lazy days of summer' was obviously not a mother!

We've had graduations, weddings, end of the year parties and soccer soccer soccer going on here at our house.

Sometimes, in the midst of all the craziness, I sometimes forget to stop and enjoy the moment.

So, in the hustle and bustle of life at our house right now, here are a few random things that are making me happy.

1)Mercy Me's newest CD The Generous Mr. Lovewell. So fun and funky! There are a couple of songs on there that sound like standard Mercy Me (don't get me wrong they are so good) but there are several that fresh and funky. It's a great CD

2)Never would I have thought that watching my kiddos teams would be more fun than going to a professional game. OH BUT IT SO IS!! I don't have the star of the team, but love watching my boy play with the same boys he's been with since 2nd grade. And having a godly Coach-icing on the cake!

3)80 degrees and sunshine -blesses my soul!

4) Eagerly awaiting my friends return after being in Thailand for two years. I can't wait to get my arms around her neck!

5)garage sales-Let me just say that if you would have told me in 20's the fun I would have finding treasures at garage sales I would have told you that you were CRAZY!! But, in my 30's I've so come to enjoy them!

6)Flip flops and Capri pants. Oh the happy!

7) Re arranging my furniture!

8)The sassy green color I painted our family room. Fun Fresh and Funky!

So, in the craziness of your days, what's making you happy right now?

Just A Mom

I was in Walmart Saturday (which I think there should be some kind of award for that!)
when I overheard two ladies chatting, who apparently hadn't seen each in awhile. ( I am a major people watcher so I can't help but take these sights in . . .) And as women do one of the ladies asked the other 'what do you do'.
Her answer may or may not surprise you.

She said 'Oh you know, I'm just a Mom'.

I tried to hide my smile and fight the urge to go and hug her!
I've described myself like that-recently in fact.

 Just a Mom.

Well on my drive home I began thinking of all the reasons why we do describe ourselves that way, which lead me to thinking about all the women who were 'just' something.

Eve was just first.

Mrs.Noah was just a wife standing by her man.

Jochobed(Moses mother) was just a mother trying to save a baby.

Sarah was just an old lady.

Rachel was just weeping for her son.

Rahab was just a prostitute.

Hannah was just a lady praying for a baby.

Bathsheba was just used.

Ruth was just a widow.

Naomi was just a mother in law.

Esther was just an orphan.

Mary was just a girl.

Anna was just waiting for her Messiah.

Martha was just busy.

Mary Magdalen just a women who knew what she'd been delivered from.

Priscilla was just a faithful follower.

Maybe your 'just' is something you don't think can be used.

Just divorced, just lost a child,  just lost a job,  just a single person, just a women with a career, just uneducated,  just a mom.

I'm so glad the Lord looks at my 'justs' and sees what only He can do with them.

A little help from my friends

On May 15th I'm speaking at a ladies event at our church. The theme is on Intimacy.
As, I have been preparing, I've discovered that means lots of different things to different people.
So, this is where you come in . . .
What does Intimacy with Christ, your family and your friends look like to you?
I would love to hear your thoughts!
