WATCH ME! WATCH ME! WATCH ME!

While playing at the pool with my kiddos today, a day care group was there as well.

Since my kids have the ability  to make friends wherever they go, several of those kiddos where playing with us.

The phrase most often I heard today was, "Watch me! Watch me! Watch me!"

I enjoyed applauding them and giving them shout outs for underwater flips and holding their breath and some awesome cannonballs.

What occurred to me as I was passing out high fives was how much each of us wants to be acknowledged.
We want one someone to see us.
We want to know what courageous thing (and holding your breath under water can be very courageous for a five year old!) we did was seen by someone.

Last week was a very difficult one for me.  I won't go into all the reasons, but I will tell you the list was a long and hard one.  By Friday night, I felt alone, like no one could see-or if they could, they didn't care.

Of course, I know in my head that's not true.  I know I'm never alone or forgotten.

But what the head knows the heart sometimes forgets.

What a simple reminder I was given today, as "Watch me!" was being shouted my way.

God is watching, he sees every brave thing, every dip, dive and difficult thing.

And one of my favorite verses came to mind:

The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17

So, not only is he watching and saving, he's singing a song over me.

That will take those feelings of being alone and push them far, far way.

If you are feeling lost, alone or abandoned, take some time and reflect on that verse.

Keep moving forward!

Blessings,

I absolutely adore your writings, my dear! I'm sorry last week was a tough one - those weeks always feel like "forever" and it's so hard to remember it's not forever - it's my "right now." You are very gifted in getting to the heart of the matter in your blogs and while I don't always leave a comment -I ALWAYS am blessed in reading your site, my friend!

I've never heard anyone or ready anyone who talked about this. What an eye opener! I often feel that no one sees the good things I do. And then I feel guilty about that. I'm so glad that my God sees it all and He's the only one that really matters anyway!! Love your post!

Hi Angie - I finally got your blog into my blog reader and am reading back a few days. First, I love your writing...spot on!

Secondly, I love the statement you wrote above, "what the head knows, the heart sometimes forgets." Wow...so true! And the sad part...age sometimes doesn't even matter in regard to this! My 14 yo girl is jumping headlong into her teenage angsty-years and as her dad and I are trying to navigate these waters (torrential at times!! :)), how often I tell her things that her head should know, but still her heart gets hurt by! I remember feeling the same way when I was her age, and whether I like it or not, still have those same feelings today as a 40-something!
Anyway...thanks for the great reminder!
